Run-on

兩個獨立子句不能只靠逗號。
冠詞
WRONG I am writing to principal about the problem.
RIGHT I am writing to the principal about the problem.
特指的職位、文件、會議前通常要 the。
介詞
WRONG We discussed about the plan in last Monday.
RIGHT We discussed the plan last Monday.
discuss 不加 about；last Monday 前不加 in。
關係子句
WRONG The student which scored full marks sat at the back.
RIGHT The student who scored full marks sat at the back.
人用 who/that，物用 which/that。
語氣過滿
WRONG This will definitely solve all traffic in Hong Kong.
RIGHT This would ease congestion on a few corridors, if enough people switch.
宜用 may / tend to / in many cases。
If 條件句
WRONG If the school will open the room, more students come.
RIGHT If the school opens the room, more students will come.
If + 現在，主句 will。不要 If + will。
比較級
WRONG This plan is more better than the old one.
RIGHT This plan is better than the old one. / much better
better 已是比較級，不加 more。
可數／不可數
WRONG Informations are useful. We need more staffs.
RIGHT The information is useful. We need more staff.
information / advice / furniture / staff 通常不可數。
被動
WRONG The trial was happened last autumn.
RIGHT The trial happened last autumn. / The trial was held last autumn.
happen / occur / take place 不用被動。
情態動詞
WRONG The school must to hire a guard. Students should can leave at 11.
RIGHT The school must hire a guard. Students should be able to leave at 11.
modal 後接原形；能力用 be able to 而非 should can。
冗詞

語域

分詞誤掛
WRONG Walking into the hall, the trophy was shining.

分詞主語須與主句主語一致。
